We are looking for a creative and dynamic person to fill the position of Early Childhood Assistant Educator at the Village des tout-petits childcare center located in St-Charles.

The Carrefour francophone de Sudbury is a family story. It is also the story of a dedicated, dynamic, and creative team working in the field of culture and education in Greater Sudbury and Sudbury-East, Ontario.

The Carrefour francophone is the oldest cultural center in French Ontario. Seventy years after its creation, it manages ten early childhood centers, five Tremplins (before and after school programs), a series of cultural Summer Camps, the Clé de Sol music school, and shows and festivals presented under the banner of La Slague and La Slague jeunesse.

The Carrefour francophone is also and above all a leader in the field of early childhood in Sudbury and an excellent work environment for professional growth! Position type: Permanent, 35 hours/week
Location: St-Charles, Ontario (22 Ste-Anne Street, P0M 2W0)
Start date: As soon as possible
Salary: $19.65 to $23.30/hour (including provincial wage subsidy).
May increase based on years of experience, education, and criteria established by the Carrefour francophone de Sudbury.

Mandate

The Assistant Educator contributes to the smooth operation of a childcare center program, is responsible for the children, and works with the group’s Educator to ensure a quality program. This position reports to the Site Supervisor.

The responsibilities and tasks of the position are as follows:
• Present invitations as planned according to the interests of children for age groups 0 to 4 years, while applying the philosophy, policies, and quality criteria of the Carrefour francophone;
• Assist the group leader in creating a safe and enriching environment;
• Assist colleagues in assessing the needs of each child, based on daily observations and available information;
• Support colleagues in administering medication and first aid;
• Communicate daily with parents and the team;
• Maintain ongoing communication with childcare staff, all Carrefour francophone childcare services, the site supervisor, and school staff;
• Participate in other related tasks such as ensuring equipment cleanliness, assisting with maintenance tasks, and food preparation.

The Assistant Educator supports the Educator/Monitor by ensuring that activities and their planning meet the standards of the Day Nurseries Act.

Quality Criteria

• Promotes the reuse of materials.
• Ensures that programming and equipment are at the children’s level
• Collaborates with employees or contractors responsible for cultural programming to be aware of workshops that will take place in the childcare service
• Knows and implements the Carrefour francophone’s program statement, as well as the organization’s mission and vision
• Ensures quality service for English-speaking parents according to the ritual and standards established by the Carrefour francophone

Any person in this position must:

• lift and move children, programming materials, childcare equipment, and groceries (40 pounds/18.2 kg)
• be flexible.
• work evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Holding a valid Ontario driver’s license is an asset.
• Having access to a vehicle is an asset.
