Daycare Cook
The One Tot Stop Day Care, with locations in Espanola and Massey, ensures a nurturing environment dedicated to meeting the unique needs of every child. Through play-based learning, we foster children’s development across all key domains including physical, cognitive, social-emotional, language, and early literacy skills – cultivating a lifelong love of learning.
The Daycare Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) requirements. This role ensures safe food handling practices and maintains a clean and organized kitchen environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working around children, is detail-oriented, and understands the importance of healthy eating in early childhood.

Responsibilities:
- Accommodate food allergies, intolerances, and dietary restrictions.
- Rotate menu items seasonally and provide input into menu planning based on availability of fresh and local ingredients.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen space in compliance with local Public Health Unit regulations.
- Participate in staff training related to health, safety, and nutrition.
- Complete and maintain records such as food temperature logs.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly deep-cleaning tasks (e.g., cleaning refrigerators, ovens, and cupboards).
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in interactions with staff, families, and children.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid Food Handler Certification recognized by Ontario’s Ministry of Health.
- Must have a valid First Aid and CPR certificate, including Infant/Child CPR Level C.
- Must have a clean Vulnerable Sector Check, no older than 6 months old.
