We are looking for a qualified, creative, and dynamic person to fill the position of Early Childhood Educator at Village des tout-petits child care center located in St-Charles.

The Carrefour francophone de Sudbury is a family story. It’s also the story of a dedicated, dynamic, and creative team working in the field of culture and education in Greater Sudbury and Sudbury-East, Ontario.

The Carrefour francophone is the oldest cultural center in French Ontario. Seventy years after its creation, it manages ten early childhood centers, five Tremplins (before and after school programs), a series of cultural Summer Camps, the Clé de Sol music school, and shows and festivals presented under the banner of La Slague and La Slague jeunesse.

Position type: Permanent, 35 hours/week
Salary: $26.00 to $29.65 per hour (including provincial wage subsidy), based on years of experience, education, and criteria established by Carrefour francophone de Sudbury.
Start date: As soon as possible
Location: St-Charles, Ontario (22 Ste-Anne Street, P0M 2W0)

Mandate

Reporting to the Site Supervisor, the educator contributes to the smooth operation of an early childhood center program, is responsible for the children, and ensures a quality program.

Summary of Responsibilities

● Develop age-appropriate programming focused on child development that meets individual and group needs and interests.
● Offer creative and innovative activities, invitations, and provocations that stimulate children’s curiosity, inquiry, discovery, problem-solving, learning, and communication skills.
● Ensure the implementation of:
o Ontario’s pedagogy How Does Learning Happen?
o Carrefour francophone’s child care program statement
o The Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Registered Early Childhood Educators in Ontario

Continued:
● Ensure that activities and their implementation meet the standards of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
● Welcome, guide, and support assigned student interns;
● Welcome, guide, and support early childhood education students from Collège Boréal during visits and internships;
● Work upstream with the Social Innovation Center for Children and Families, specifically during research projects.

Requirements and Skills

The person filling this position must:
● Have experience in providing licensed child care services;
● Be a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario;
● Possess leadership qualities;
● Have excellent oral and written communication skills in French;
● Be able to express themselves well and write in English;
● Demonstrate resourcefulness and teamwork.

Anyone in this position must:

• Lift and move children, programming materials, daycare supplies, and groceries (40 pounds/18.2 kg)
• Be flexible.
• Work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Holding a valid Ontario driver’s license is an asset having access to a vehicle.
• Having access to a vehicle is an asset.
