We are looking for a leader, a mentor, someone passionate about early childhood education and teamwork to fill the position of Early Childhood Center Supervisor at Village des tout-petits located in St-Charles.

Carrefour francophone is the oldest cultural center in French Ontario. Seventy years after its creation, it manages ten early childhood centers, five Tremplins (before and after school programs), a series of cultural summer camps, the La Clé de Sol music school, and shows and festivals presented under the banner of La Slague and La Slague jeunesse.

Position type: 6-month fixed-term contract with possibility of extension. Full-time: 35 hours/week
Qualified Supervisor: $29.00 to $32.65 (including Provincial Subsidy), based on years of experience, education, and criteria established by Carrefour francophone de Sudbury.
Unqualified Supervisor: $27.00 to $30.50 (including Provincial Subsidy), based on years of experience, education, and criteria established by Carrefour francophone de Sudbury.

Mandate
Reporting to the Director of Children’s Services, the Early Childhood Center Supervisor plans and directs the program of a daycare center, is responsible for the children and supervises the staff.
The person will ensure the development, promotion, and continuous evaluation of all activities of the center under their responsibility.

Education required: RECE

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and supervises a learning program based on Ontario's Pedagogy for Early Years and on the guidelines of Carrefour francophone's children's services.
  • Applies program management procedures.
  • Supervises the daily programming of educators and children.
  • Ensures the implementation of: o Ontario's pedagogy How Does Learning Happen? o Carrefour francophone's childcare program statement o Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Registered Early Childhood Educators in Ontario
  • Complies with the requirements of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.
  • Manages enrollments for the site under their charge, and ensures quality customer service.
  • Performs tasks related to personnel management of the site under their charge.
  • Ensures the health and safety of children, staff, and the site.
  • May be called upon to participate in early childhood committees on behalf of and/or within Carrefour francophone.
  • May be called upon to welcome, guide, and support student interns.

Qualifications:

  • Possess experience in providing licensed childcare services;
  • Be approved by a Ministry director (Subsection 7.1 of the Child Care Centre Licensing Manual);
  • Be a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario;
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience in providing licensed childcare services;
  • Possess leadership qualities;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills in French;
  • Be able to express oneself well and write in English.

Anyone in this position must:
• lift and move children, programming and center materials, as well as groceries (40 pounds/18.2 kg)
• be able to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
• Possess a valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Have access to a vehicle.
