We are looking for a caring and reliable individual to join our team as an Assistant Educator. Working alongside Registered Early Childhood Educators, you will help provide a safe, warm, and play-based program where children feel at home. This is a great entry point into the early childhood field. No ECE diploma is required: just a genuine interest in working with young children.

Languages required: French

Responsibilities:

  • Support the educational team in planning and leading play-based activities, both indoors and outdoors, based on children's interests.
  • Actively participate in daily routines and activities, and help enrich children's play and conversations.
  • Address children's physical needs (diaper changes, hygiene, meals, naps) with respect and kindness.
  • Contribute to keeping the environment safe, clean, and welcoming, including light maintenance and snack preparation as needed.
  • Use positive intervention strategies (redirection, positive language, reinforcement) in accordance with centre policies.
  • Report accidents, injuries, illnesses, and concerns to the RECE or supervisor, and document as needed.
  • Communicate warmly and professionally with families and colleagues.
  • Comply with centre policies and procedures, as well as the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA).
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Training or experience in childcare is an asset.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check, dated within the last 6 months.
  • Standard First Aid and Level C CPR (infant and child) certification, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Genuine interest in working with young children.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Flexibility and ability to lift up to 18 kg (40 lbs).
